About

FreiWelcome to my blog; I hope you will enjoy reading my updates, and off course that you will be coming back for more!

My name is Frederiek. It’s a bit of a tricky name on this side of the world to pronounce, so please call me Frei; that’s what everyone else does too. I’m Dutch and living in Phuket, Thailand. For the past year’s I have been following my {now} husband for his work around South East Asia. One could say I’m a great stalker 😉
We’ve been living for several years in Singapore, followed by a couple of years in Ho Chi Minh City {Vietnam}, and since September 2013 in Phuket.

Over the past years I have always been able to find myself a job in the countries we’ve lived. I worked mainly in hospitality and loved the marcomm and event side of work. During this time I started reading many blogs and I was always wondering whether I would be able to start a blog. But due to the long hours in the office I was never able to start one.

Phuket has proven to be very different for me, major point is that there is no prospect of a job. Which means I have all the time in the world to start off all the things I always wanted to do, but never had the time for. Traveling, volunteer work, sports, photography, and finally starting my own blog.

I love creativity {but I’m not the best in DIY projects}, photo a day contests, and creating and fostering online communities, and at the same time sharing my stories with the rest of the world. Hopefully stories of which people all over the world can connect with. Isn’t it great we live in an era that this is possible through the internet?

I hope you’ll enjoy my blog, and feel free to contact me to say hi or if you have any questions.

Xxx,
Frei

  1. In Singapore I started out going from door-to-door to find a job. A year later I had a network in which I found a nicer job. In Vietnam I send out my resume to several Dutch companies, who in their turn forwarded my resume, which landed me a job. A little bit of luck is necessary…
Now in Thailand I unfortunately don’t have a job yet, mainly due to the strict visa regulations. At the moment I am doing several projects for companies outside of Thailand.
