Phuket Picks – Phuket Botanic Garden

The other day we drove around Phuket looking for something to do and our eye fell on the sign of Phuket Garden. We decided to give it a try even though we are in the dry season now, and knew there would be a big chance that most of the flowers would not be blooming.

What to expect?

Phuket Botanic Garden opened its doors in 2012 and is located in Muang District – in the centre of Phuket Island. When arriving at the Phuket Botanic Garden you will be welcomed with a grand entrance to a small door going to the actual gardens.

The garden is set up in such a way that you walk down a path and on the left and right side you can enter different zones with different types of plants. I love orchids, so I really looked forward to seeing all the different ones the park had to offer. It was lovely as always. But this was not everything yet – the park has 30 exotic plant zones in total, so we were up for a great treat. We saw plenty of cactusses, bonsai trees, a rain forest and even a beautiful butterfly garden. Owh and not to forget about the wedding couple making their wedding photos.

Walking around the park you’ll see that it is well maintained, and clean with several gardeners making sure the plants get enough water and the grounds are kept clean. In the middle of the park there is a huge pond where you can relax at the café and the kids {or adults if they are interested} can feed the fish for THB20 (about US$0,60).

As we thought not a lot of plants were in bloom, as it’s not the right season for it. But even though this was the case we truly had an enjoyable time here. If you’re a garden lover, it’s definitely a place to go to if you want to spend some time away from the beach and shopping centres!
