Lovely Link – Happy Easter edition

Happy Easter everyone – I hope you’re all enjoying a lovely long weekend with loads of eggs {chocolate or real 😉 }.

This week it was difficult to find lovely links for my page, with all the bad things happening. Obviously the attacks on Brussels where in the news everywhere, but that was not the only place where horrible things are happening. It really makes me wonder where the world is going to. And then I saw this link: Pope Francis Washes Refugees’ Feet In Catholic Ritual.

Pope Francis kisses the foot of a refugee during the foot-washing ritual at the Castelnuovo di Porto refugees center near Rome, Italy

Every year the pope washes the feet of 12 sub-deacons after his Mass and of thirteen poor men after his dinner. However last year Pope Francis changed things up a bit by washing prisoners’ feet – men and women. And this year, days after the bombing in Brussels, he washed the feet of 12 refugees. Eight of them were men and four women, but the best part? It was a mix of Muslims, Christians and Hindu with only one thing in common – they were refugees.

The Pope made the message clear in his speech prior the foot washing ceremony: “All of us together: Muslims, Hindus, Catholics, Copts, Evangelicals…. All brothers and children of the same God. We want to live together in peace.” Head over to the page and take a look at this beautiful ceremony.

Whether you believe in God or not – I think this message comes from a good heart and the right time. And I totally agree with Pope Francis, I too want to live together in peace!
