Phuket Has Been Good To Us Event: Black Tie Muay Thai II

Phuket Has Been Good To Us (or PHBGTU as we call it here on the island) is a Foundation that’s close to my heart {and that’s not just because their office is around the corner from our house!}.
Here on the island they teach over 1,000 Thai kids English on three different schools where they normally would not be exposed to another language than Thai. Besides that they organize after schools activities at Baan Kamala School for the residential kids. These kids live in the school as they are orphans or their family is unable to take care of them.

On an island like Phuket it is so important to be able to speak English, as about 99% of the work that can be found here is in the hospitality industry. So if these kids can talk another language besides Thai, they are faster able to make a living for themselves in the city they grew up in.
As I have always worked in this industry, I think this is such a great way to help both the children as well as the industry! And therefore this Foundation creates a win-win situation for all.

As you can understand I try to help PHBGTU out as much as I can. But one of the easiest and most fun ways of doing this is by attending their events. It’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it – and all in the name for a good cause! So I wouldn’t want to miss their next big event: Black Tie Muay Thai II at the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort.

On the 21st the ballroom at Outrigger will be transformed into a fighting stage. While enjoying a scrumptious four-course dinner I’ll be watching on how celebrity fighters will clash for a good cause. And maybe I’ll put in some money for a silent auction prize as well! All proceeds go to PHBGTU – so I have a good reason to spend it!

For more information on this amazing event, take a look at PHBGTU website and Facebook page!
