It’s the end of the year again, and I always love looking back on what the year has brought me. 2014 was a great year, with loads of fun, many trips back home and also our own wedding. It’s this time of the year that I know I am blessed with what I can do the whole year round. And it’s also the time of year, where I go and see whether I can help out others in need.
My way of giving back is usually by helping out others – join for volunteering work or something like this. In Thailand this is very difficult for a person like me. What do I mean with this? It means that when you’re the partner of someone who is working here, you will receive a visa to stay here during the same time as him/her, but you’re not allowed to work on this visa. Volunteering is considered to be working as well, so that means that when you would do volunteering work, you are in violation of your visa. For this reason, the best way to help charities out is by raising money in one way or another.
Wanderlust Expat Life & Style Magazine gave me the opportunity to write an article on charities on the island, a great way to see what I can do here for people who are less blessed then me.
Over the coming weeks I will write several updates on the charities I have visited for this article. And hopefully we can all help them out in making the lives of underprivileged people and animals better, here in Phuket.
Hope you will enjoy reading about it!
